This session was So. Much. Fun.  Tyler was so easy to photograph, he worked it like a model.  I put his mom and dad to work holding reflectors/scrims and carrying my gear, and they were troopers.  The family dogs were so well behaved, and the fall scenery was perfect for portraits.  There were just so many great images to choose from.  At the end of the session Tyler jumped in the freezing creek and ended the session with the wet look portraits (brave guy!)  Here is the proof video I showed Tyler and his parents when they came in to the studio to place their order this week.  Enjoy!

I had the honor of photographing a beautiful baby girl and her parents to celebrate baby’s 100th day.  I had not heard of this celebration before, but here’s what I found out about it (from patch.com):

“Every birthday is special to Koreans, but certain birthdays are more than special.  Traditionally, we hold several special milestone birthday parties for children and older people, such as baek-il, tol, hwan-gap, and gohee.  Baek-il is celebrated on the 100th day after a child’s birth. Long ago in Korea, childhood diseases were common and the survival rate for children was very low. To protect their children, parents refrained from taking the baby outdoors until the 100th day after his or her birth.  It is not until baek-il that the baby was introduced to neighbors, friends and relatives. One of the baek-il’s special events is the parents providing rice cakes, called baekseolgi, to at least 100 people. They believe this event helps to protect the child’s life. They also pray for the child’s continued good health.”

This age is notorious for being difficult to capture.  Babies at 3 months aren’t able to sit, hold their heads up very well, etc.  But I’m so glad I was up to the challenge and was able to capture this special event for this sweet family.

Last night my dear client friend (that’s when I have a client that becomes a friend…the BEST part of my job!!!!), Meghan, came in for her latest ordering appointment.  I’ve been photographing this family for, geez, over 8 years now I guess.  A while back they moved away to Minnesota, but they recently moved back and boy was I thrilled about that!!!!  We shared wine and caught up before viewing her portraits…and when I played the proof video, let’s just say I was glad I had a box of tissues handy.  Here’s the video of their session (keep in mind these are not fully edited images, that part comes after the order is placed).

Enjoy!
