I’m so glad you stopped by my blogsite!  Short history…I opened Andrea Jones Photography almost ten years ago.  After a couple of years working out of my home, I opened my first studio in downtown Helena, MT.  I was there for three years and LOVED every moment of it.  When my lease was up, I was planning to move to a much bigger space to accommodate my growing business.  But at that same time, I found out we were expecting another baby.  I made the choice to stay home with my kids and work very part-time and on-location.  Because Andrea Jones Photography was an established, high end studio with a focus on studio portaits, customer service and quality prints and canvases, I didn’t want to jeopardize the reputation of my business by offering a lesser quality product.  However, I knew that as a full time mom, I wouldn’t be able to provide that time intensive service to my clients.  So, I started another business, ShutterBee by Andrea Jones.  ShutterBee focused on short, on-location sessions with digital files.  While the quality of the photography didn’t change, the amount of time I spent with each client was drastically reduced.  This worked fine for a few years while I had little ones in diapers and most days I was lucky to manage to comb my hair.  But now that my baby is three, I want to do what I do best.  So I’m saying farewell to ShutterBee and returning to Andrea Jones Photography, where, once again, I can focus on my clients and on offering the best in service and quality.

Look at this face…and that hair…and those eyes…and that smile. At three weeks, she was past that whole newborn sleeping, curled up thang. Three hours of WIDE AWAKE, albeit very happy and content, WIDE AWAKE baby…and FIVE minutes of sleeping baby.  But I can’t complain, look at these images!

I had the pleasure of photographing this glowing mama-to-be last week. What a beautiful woman, with one of the nicest bellies I have ever photographed. She is due this coming Friday, so very soon I will get to photograph a precious baby girl, too. It’s hard to believe that a year ago I was talking about closing my photography business altogether. And now I have a gorgeous new studio space and I can continue to create these timeless images for families to cherish forever. Sigh. Love it so much. Thank you, Megan, for allowing me to be a part of this miraculous celebration. Can’t wait to get my hands on baby Torri!

Last weekend I photographed Kim, whose husband is being deployed for another long year.  She wanted to do something special for him, so we had a blast creating some amazing images.  She plans to do a 12 month calendar for him, which I’m super excited about.  Here’s Kim’s before and after.  Hair and makeup by Erin Weninger (Salon off Broadway).  She did a great job and Kim definitely felt like a diva for her session.

After many delays, my storefront signs were finally installed last week. I also got my display prints in the front windows. Hopefully soon Jill will get her signs and display prints up, since right now it looks a little strange with only half the front being done! I had four sessions in the studio last week, despite it STILL not being finished. I’m working on ordering studio samples of the types of prints and products I’m offering. The sales room couch will finally arrive (after a long backorder) next week. The counter is on hold while Jill and her family move to a new home, and there are plenty of little details that need to be completed. But the space is functional, that is the most important thing. When it’s completed we will have an open house and grand opening, and will look forward to seeing you all there.

It’s hard to believe that the first time I photographed this darling face she was just three years old and I was (almost) a complete newbie working out of a tiny room in my old house.  Here she is, practically a grown up and I’ve got gray hair and wrinkles, two kids and I’m on my second studio.

Meet little miss Nevayah.  She’s a princess through and through.  She adores lip gloss, dresses, shoes, and all manner of frilly girly stuff.  And she is gorgeous, but don’t tell her that!  She likes to chew gum, and she and her big brother Logan actually LIKE each other.  She is such a sweetheart, and obviously the camera loves her.  Don’t you just want to take her home and put her up on a shelf?
